Our Founders: Building the Vision

The United States Construction Industry Foundation (USCI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the construction workforce and uplifting the families and communities that depend on it. We exist to celebrate the people who build our nation, expand pathways into the trades, and restore pride in the industry that shapes our world.

Our mission is grounded in service: to celebrate the construction workforce, inspire new talent to join the trades, support the well‑being of construction professionals and their families, and elevate the reputation of the industry.

Our founders are Jon Gray and Sandy Giordano.

Jon offers decades of hands‑on construction experience and a deep respect for the men and women who work in the trades. He began his career as a laborer in the field, learning the craft from the ground up before moving into supervision, project management, and ultimately senior leadership roles overseeing major construction operations. That journey — from boots‑on‑the‑ground work to leading teams and companies — gives him a rare, full‑spectrum understanding of jobsite realities, workforce needs, and industry culture. His lived experience ensures that USCI’s programs remain authentic, relevant, and deeply connected to the people who build our world.

Sandy brings a career of expertise in education, training and development, and curriculum design. Her work has centered on helping people of all ages learn, grow, and access new opportunities. At USCI, she leads the development of evidence‑based programs, student outreach, and family‑support initiatives that make the trades more accessible and more deeply understood. Her background ensures that every USCI program is built with intention, clarity, and long‑term impact.

Together, they have built a foundation that honors the past, strengthens the present, and invests in the future of the construction industry.

USCI is more than an organization — it is a movement to uplift the people who build America.
